ABOUT
DDR BOOKS
DDR Books was started by Donus D. Roberts, who decided his initials were the best company name he could devise.
All his life, Donus (the Roman for the Greek ‘Adonis’) has read and accumulated books. In the early 1980s, Donus decided to collect some authors in first edition, then signed first editions. By the early 1990s, the goal was to sell books online, which came to pass in 1999.
Most of the inventory for DDR Books has been published since 1900, a circumstance of cost and of living in South Dakota, where antique books are not frequently available. However, Donus’ expertise, experience, and connections in the book world allow us to track down rare and special volumes in every genre. He loves hunting for special customer requests and obtaining in-person author signatures.
Books are very important to the Roberts family, who own the store together. Donus and his wife, Lovila, are retired high school English teachers, and their daughter, Robyn, is a high school English teacher. As a family business, DDR Books is committed to quality books, both in content and condition.
The family also collects books. They try hard to describe the condition of books, whether new or used, accurately. All books are carefully packed and shipped in a box. The goal is to entice you into our store, but if that is not possible, please enjoy the website and DDR Books’ online book inventory, which may be found by clicking here — >
